Today a Florida jury found Casey Anthony not guilty for the death of her daughter, Caylee.
I'm a bit flabbergasted. Now, I didn't keep up with the trial. Mostly because to me, it seemed inevitable that Casey Anthony would be convicted. There didn't seem to be enough plausible scenarios that would assuage her guilt.
Given the responses via social media and various websites and columns, I don't appear to be the only one. I almost feel sorry for Casey....ALMOST.
Her life is worthless. I'm sure she'll write a book, do television talk shows, and probably sell the rites to her story for a Lifetime Original Movie. But the price paid for it all, will weigh heavily on her. This is all said with the understanding that some gun-toting, kid-loving, this side of sane person doesn't shoot her down like Jack Ruby did Lee Harvey Oswald or some shank-hiding, mom-tattoo'd, this side of crazy inmate doesn't do her in during her prison stay. There won't be a day that Casey Anthony will be safe. She will be hated for the rest of her life. It's unlikely that her parents will stand by her for very long. She will be a social pariah.
People want to compare her trial to OJ's but there is no comparison. There was such a great divide among the American people regarding OJ's trial that his innocence or guilt could NOT be discussed ANYWHERE without heated if not volcanic arguments taking place. I was one of the "he was framed" people and BOY did I get an earful every time I let it be known.
However, with Casey Anthony's case, the American people seemed to agree that she was guilty. There doesn't seem to be any doubt in "our" minds of her guilt. It doesn't matter if it was pre-meditated or an accident, bottomline is that YOU DON'T COVER IT UP AND PRETEND YOUR DAUGHTER IS ALIVE AND WELL WHEN YOU KNOW DAMN WELL SHE ISN'T!! You don't MAKE up lies about where you left your daughter so YOU CAN BE THE LIFE OF THE PARTY!! It's completely disgusting and America, as a whole, or at the very least a majority, agrees with me. But there were 12 people who didn't.
So....where does that leave us??
Wanting answers from the jurors!! Well, wanting really just one answer...
Why did you do it??
